Here's how to use the Travesty Corporate PR Infomixer to create your
very own Public Relations Travesties!

1) Download the software and unzip it on your
web server. If you're reading this, you've probably done that part already.

2) Find some worthy and wordy text on your favorite PR artists' websites.
The more material you have for each artist, the better the remixes will work!
Copy and paste this text into a plain text file on your computer.
Feel free to use excerpts from various parts of each organization's website,
but be sure to use one text file per organization. For example, you'd put
all of the WTO's text into a file called "wto.txt" while putting all
Microsoft's text into a file called "microsoft.txt" (the exact filenames you
choose are not important).

HINT: It's a very good idea to edit out all the parts of the texts
that are not complete sentences. For example, navigation links, section
headings, etc. The grammar in your remixes will come out a lot better
if you've got only complete sentences in your raw texts.

ANOTHER HINT: The texts mix a little better if they are each roughly
the same length.

Also edit out any funky characters (control characters) that show
up in your texts. Most of the time this is no problem at all, but
occasionally you have to clean those up.

3) Upload your new text files to your web server. Put them in the
"remixfiles" directory that was created when
you unzipped the software. All files in this directory will be used in the
"All Star Jam" part of the program, so take care that you don't
put any stray files in the "remixfiles" directory.

4) Edit the top of the "remix.pl" file, where it says "Stuff to configure."
Explanations are with each item. (It will also explain how to customize
the look of your Infomixer, if you want to custom-pretty it.)

5) Upload the edited remix.pl file back to your webserver.
Make sure remix.pl is executable, and in a place where
you can run CGI scripts. (See instructions from your web provider on
how to use CGI scripts if you're not sure.)

That's it! People should now be able to access your remixer at
http://pathtoyourdomain/cgi-path/remix.pl
(Modify according to specifics on your webserver.)

Happy remixing!
